Felix Auger-Aliassime wins final in Florence to claim his second ATP Tour title

Auger Aliassime defeated Wolf in the final of the Florence Open (6-4, 6-4)

9 months after his first and last main tour title in Rotterdam, the Canadian is finally back to winning a final. It was with his victory over American Jeffrey John Wolf that he completed his great week in Italy. A match in which he clearly dominated and logically deserved his victory. He broke only once in the first set, then did not concede a single break point, and went on to win his sets. On the other hand, the Cincinnati native had to battle almost the entire match not to lose his serve.

On the whole, it was a positive seven years for FAA : he only dropped one set in the tournament and showed consistency, something he has been lacking in recent months. And to get to the title, the 13th ranked player in the world had to beat some very good players:

– Germany’s Oscar Otte (ranked 55th in the world) in the first round, in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-2)

– American Brandon Nakashima (recent winner in San Diego and 46th in the world) in two sets (6-3, 6-4)

– Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti (ranked 28th in the world) in two sets (6-2, 6-3)

– And finally, JJ. Wolf (world no. 75) in two sets (6-4, 6-4)

Rublev wins his 12th ATP title in Gijon

The world No. 9 did what Auger-Aliassime did this week : a title, wins against tough opponents and only one set lost during the week. With this new title, Andrey Rublev has now won 4 times this year, including 3 on hard court.

Rublev’s record to win the first edition of the Gijon Open:

– Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (ranked 70) in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-4)

– the American Tommy Paul (ranked 30th in the world) in two sets (7-5, 6-3)

– Austrian Dominic Thiem in two sets (6-4, 6-4)

– Then another American, Sebastian Korda, again in two sets (6-2, 6-3).
