The world’s largest international airline, Emirates, has launched a third nonstop flight to Colombo. The new service will operate six times weekly, all days except Wednesdays, until the end of March 2025. From April, a seventh weekly flight on Wednesdays will join the network. As a result, the airline will boost capacity on the said route by 30 per cent.
Until March 31, 2025, flight EK654 will depart from Dubai International Airport at 10:05 and land in Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, at 16:00. The return service – EK655 – will start and conclude its journey at 22:05 and 01:05 the next day, respectively. From April 1, 2025, the Wednesday service will come into action. That service will leave Dubai at 13:20 and arrive in Colombo at 19:15. Those travelling in the other direction will depart from the Sri Lankan capital at 22:05 and land in DXB at 00:55 the next day. All times mentioned are local.
The newly introduced service will use a 360-seater widebody aircraft. The aircraft boasts eight suites in First Class, 42 seats in Business Class, and 310 seats in Economy. Emirates also operates two other direct services between Dubai and Colombo, and a daily service with a stopover in Male.
