The BMW M2 has always been the benchmark for compact sports coupés. It’s a car designed for purists who crave a seriously powerful engine in a small and agile form factor. With the recent arrival of the limited-run M2 CS, BMW raised the ante with more muscle and less weight, but at a daunting price.
Depending on the market, the CS costs 30 to 50 percent more than a standard G87, leaving many enthusiasts questioning its value. This is where dAHLer Competition Line steps in, offering a tuned alternative that eclipses the CS in both power and presence without the supercar-like price tag.
BMW M2 dAHLer Competition Line: Engine & Performance
The headline act of the dAHLer Competition Line M2 is its Stage 2 performance package. The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six, familiar from the stock G87 M2, now produces 638hp and 780Nm. That’s nearly 40 percent more than the factory car and comfortably ahead of the M2 CS, which peaks at 533hp and 650Nm.
With the electronic limiter removed, the dAHLer BMW M2 storms past 300km/h, placing it firmly in supercar territory. Crucially, the upgrade is fully Euro 6d compliant, backed by EU and Swiss homologation, and available for both manual and automatic models. Supporting this jump in performance are a carbon fibre air intake and a bespoke stainless steel exhaust system with flap control, capped by matte black ceramic-coated twin pipes.
Carbon Fibre Overload & Visual Aggression
To match its newfound muscle, dAHLer has sculpted the G87’s bodywork with an array of carbon fibre components. The new hood and front fenders come with integrated air outlets, emphasising both form and function.
These are an addition to the existing catalogue of lightweight carbon parts, including a three-piece front spoiler, rear diffuser, mirror caps, and two distinct styles of rear spoiler. The result is a coupé that looks every bit as focused as a GT racecar.
Wheels, Suspension & Braking
The stance of the dAHLer M2 is anchored by forged CDC2 wheels in 21-inch fitment, with 275/25 tyres at the front and massive 305/25 rubber at the rear. Customers can also choose 20-inch alternatives or the proven CDC1 design, with a variety of finishes available, including the exclusive dAHLer Edition with polished details.
Beneath the arches, suspension options range from sport springs that lower the ride by 28 millimetres at the front and 20 at the rear, to a fully adjustable coilover system. The latter allows fine-tuning of rebound and compression in both high- and low-speed settings, making it ideal for track days. Camber-adjustable support bearings can be specified for those chasing tenths, while the braking system is enhanced with steel flex lines and upgraded pads for greater bite and fade resistance.
Driver-Focused Interior
Inside the cabin, dAHLer ensures the driver remains at the centre of the experience. An Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel designed to integrate seamlessly with BMW’s assistance systems sets the tone, while a short-shift kit sharpens the feel of the six-speed manual transmission. Custom programming options and subtle details, such as embroidered floor mats add a touch of individuality.
The Top M2 Choice?
When all is considered, the dAHLer Competition Line G87 M2 makes a strong case as the smarter choice over BMW’s own M2 CS. It delivers more power, greater torque, sharper handling, and a wider range of bespoke styling options, all at a significantly lower cost. It is a car that captures the raw excitement of the M2 formula while pushing its boundaries further than even Munich dared.
