Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific has announced the name of its eighth destination in the Southwest Pacific region. Starting November 11, 2025, the airline will restart its direct flights to the South Australian capital, Adelaide. With three weekly flights scheduled, this route will join the carrier’s network as a seasonal service.
Cathay Pacific will operate the Hong Kong-Adelaide route using its Airbus A350-900, which boasts a three-class configuration: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. Flight CX173 will depart from Hong Kong at 23:30 and arrive in Adelaide at 10:30 the next day. This sector will be active on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return flight, CX174, will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting and ending its journey at 12:00 and 17:40, respectively. The season’s last flight will fly on March 27, 2026. The widebody aircraft will also enhance options for cargo customers, complementing the two freighter flights per week planned to the Southwest Pacific this winter.
In addition to Adelaide, Cathay Pacific operates year-round services from Hong Kong to Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, and winter seasonal flights to Cairns and Christchurch, all in the Southwest Pacific.
Cathay Pacific and HK Express, part of the Cathay Group, will jointly expand their network with 16 destinations this year. Before the first half of 2025 comes to a close, Cathay Group’s global network will reach 100 passenger destinations. In 2025, Cathay Pacific has already launched nonstop passenger flights to Hyderabad, Dallas and Urumqi. Ready to join the network are Rome (June 5), Munich (June 16), Brussels (August 3) and, of course, Adelaide (November 11).
