Belgium’s national flag carrier, Brussels Airlines, has revealed plans to offer more of nearly everything during the summer of 2025. Between April and October, the airline will operate 50 aircraft (44 in 2024) to serve 91 destinations. The count comprises eleven long-haul widebodies (Airbus A330) and 35 short- and medium-haul jets (Airbus A319/320). airBaltic’s four Airbus A220s, which will operate on behalf of Brussels Airlines, will bump the number to 50.
Funchal, the capital of Madeira, Portugal, will join the list of destinations. Brussels Airlines will operate direct weekly flights to this island, bringing the number of destinations across Portugal to four. Furthermore, the airline will operate additional flights to Faro and Porto.
In Spain, the carrier started a service to Fuerteventura this winter. This will continue next summer when the airline will offer flights to eleven destinations across Spain. Extra seating capacity on four routes—Malaga, Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid—is also part of the plan.
Brussels Airlines has also confirmed nine destinations across Greece, with more capacity allocated to Samos and Lesbos routes. Apart from Greece, the route to Birmingham, UK, will now be a year-round affair. Also, more flights will be allotted to Vilnius, Lithuania, and Tanger, Morocco. The airline has also announced the start of operations of “most daily flights” from Brussels to Munich and Frankfurt. Lufthansa served these routes earlier. Similarly, the carrier takes over the flight connections from the Belgian capital to Zurich and Geneva from Swiss.
Brussels Airlines will offer flights to at least 71 destinations across its short—and medium-haul network. Compared to 2024, it’ll have 18 per cent more capacity on sale.
For serving longer routes, an eleventh Airbus A330-300 aircraft will be on duty during the summer season. Details about the destinations these widebody twin-engined jets will serve will be revealed later.
Well-trained manpower is required to implement everything and ensure operations run smoothly. Hence, for the busy summer season, the airline is already screening applicants for over 350 jobs. The list comprises 190 cabin crew, 50 pilots, 40 ground staff, 40 maintenance and engineering personnel, and 20 members for the headquarters.
