Breva Geneve is reborn with its first watch, Segreto di Lario. The name is Italian for “Secret of Lake Como.” An Italian Swiss watch brand, it is “inspired by the Breva, the iconic breeze of Lake Como.”

Image: The brand “celebrates precision instruments inspired by historical explorers.” The Segreto di Lario resembles every bit a precision nautical instrument.
Julien Haenny, a seasoned watch industry executive, is Breva Geneve’s new owner and CEO. They have collaborated with renowned watch industry specialists to bring the Segreto di Lario to life. They include Jean-François Mojon / Chronode (movement), EDGE Design (technical design), AB Concept (case), Cadranor (dial), and GMG Composants (hands) and Cinturini (straps).

Key Features

Image: Beautiful dial details. The power reserve indication takes centre stage.
Functions are hours and minutes, retrograde seconds (12 o’clock) and a double retrograde power reserve indicator featuring a nonlinear display with two scales. The left scalse displays “six days at a glance,” and the right scale “the remaining 24 hours.”
Central dial features a hand-finished vertical satin-brushed finish with “an angled perimeter.” Lower dial is rhodium-plated and features a vertical Côtes de Genève finish. Bevels and pinions are polished. Hands are blued, polished, and slightly curved. Applied retrograde seconds scale is rhodium plated, features a “circular satin-finish” and “polished beveled edges.”

Image: Beautiful caseback view. I love how the movement fills the case.
Powered by a bespoke manual-winding movement developed by Jean-François Mojon / Chronode exclusively for the brand. It is based on their C101 movement. It drives the hours and minutes, retrograde seconds, and 7-day double retrograde power reserve indicator. Diameter: 31.10 mm. Height: 3.98 mm. Jewels: 29. Frequency: 3 Hz. Power reserve: 7 days provided by two barrels. Movement finishing includes “Côtes de Genève, rhodium-plated bridges, hand-beveled bridges, sandblasted engravings, polished bevel ratchet, snail-finished ratchet top surface, micro blasting and straight graining.”
Image: The case features beautiful details. Notice the “circular satin-brushed crown with polished logo” and the “polished crown guard decoration.”
The cushion shaped case is made from 18K rose gold (5N). Diameter: 41 mm. Thickness: 11.10 mm. Dial and caseback feature a sapphire crystal with dual-side anti-reflective coating. Our Thoughts
Image: A superb first attempt for the reborn Breva Geneve.
The Segreto di Lario is a beautiful interpretation of an haute horology watch, one that resembles a precision nautical instrument and evokes Italian flair and style. It features an abundance of details and high-end finishings. In an industry obsessed with “in-house,” the brand’s transparency of its specialist partners is incredibly refreshing. If this is Breva Geneve’s first watch, I look forward to what they will do next.
