Brabus Does A V8 Range Rover

The torque peaks at 800Nm.

After unleashing a spruced-up V12 Maybach earlier this month, Brabus is back with a V8 powerhouse. Yes, a derivative of the new-gen Range Rover is the subject of the tuner’s latest project. What’s called the Brabus 600 is based on the P 530 variant of JLR’s flagship high-riding luxo-barge.

First, the powerplant. The Range Rover derivative mentioned above packs a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8, with 530hp/750Nm as the maximum output. That is met with Brabus’ PowerXtra 600 performance upgrade, which ups the power and torque figures to 600hp and 800Nm, respectively. As a result, the Brabus 600 can complete the 0-100kmph sprint two-tenths of a second quicker (4.5 seconds vs 4.7 seconds) and reach 250kmph before running into the electronic speed governors.

More math comes from the wheels, tyres and suspension departments. The Brabus 600 dons 24-inch Monoblock ZV wheels with a 20-spoke centre-lock design. Wrapped around them 295/35 ZR ContiSportContract 6 tyres. And as for the air suspension, the Brabus SportXtra control module allows for a 20mm drop in ride height. Brabus does confirm that more options are available for the wheel designs and tyres.

Besides the wheels, some other aspects of the SUV’s exterior have also received the Brabus love. At the front, the new apron gives the Range Rover a more aggressive look. The frames of the central and the side intakes are made of carbon fibre, and so is the front spoiler, which also helps reduce lift on the front axle at high speeds. At the rear, more carbon elements add to the sporty quotient. The list includes carbon-titanium exhaust tips, a diffuser and a spoiler. And, of course, the Brabus badging at the front and rear is unmissable.

Inside the cabin, the Pistachio colour with contrasting black piping is striking, to say the least. The centre seat sections, footwells and trunk liner boast seashell quilting. Also, carbon scuff plates with backlit Brabus logos welcome the occupants. And lastly, the driver gets to use the aluminium pedals and the footrest. And as with the wheels, Brabus is open to individual customisation requests for the SUV’s cabin.

So, how do you like the Brabus 600?
