Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines joined the aviation bandwagon and started commercial operations nearly 35 years ago. The initial fleet comprised Boeing 737 jets. Now, to modernise its fleet for the 21st century, the airline has struck a deal with the same American aircraft manufacturer. The duo has inked paperwork for the supply of up to 200 737-10 aeroplanes. The count comprises a firm order for 100 aircraft with the option to purchase up to 100 more at a later stage.
The 737-10 is the largest member of Boeing’s 737 family. It can seat up to 230 passengers and provide a nonstop flying range of up to 5,740km, which equates to about 3,100 nautical miles. For Pegasus Airlines, the Boeing 737-10 will help open new routes across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.
