Bentley Batur Convertible undergoes intensive testing across Europe

With the Batur Coupe that Bentley revealed two years ago, the British company redraws its design direction with a focus on its rich heritage that should be the starting point for the future. And The Batur Convertible that uses the same platform of Continental GT furthers the innovative design DNA introduced by its coupe sibling.

Today, the exclusive Batur Convertible equipped with the company’s famous W12, begins its final testing phase, covering engine efficiency, environmental standards, sunlight simulation, stability, aerodynamics, noise , vibration and handling.

The 120 tests cover everything from the gold-plated ventilation control surfaces to the new W12 engine’s instruments and software. Testing will be conducted over 58 weeks to validate the capabilities of the Batur Car Zero Convertible and Batur Engineering Car Convertible.

The test began with a 3,000km journey across five countries in Europe, testing the car in a variety of driving conditions. From Germany where speed is unlimited on most of the roads, it travelled through mountains, motorways and cities in Italy, France and Spain, with a brief stop in the super rich Principality Monaco for filming, before continuing to Ideada in Spain, where high-speed testing was conducted on a dedicated track.

The Batur Convertible is powered by the most powerful version of the hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 750 HP engine that has powered Bentley’s sales boom over the past two decades. The Batur Convertible will be the last Bentley to use the W12 powertrain. The convertible roof offers a stylish alternative to the hardtop, with a combination of insulation, improved sealing and acoustics creating a comfortable environment within the vehicle. It can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds at speeds of up to 50 kph, transforming the car from a luxury coupé to an open-top grand tourer at the touch of a button.

Mulliner’s in-house design team will help co-create every Batur Convertible with its customer, working together through a specially created Mulliner visualizer that allows any part of the car to be customized in color and surface finish.
