Following the footsteps of the Bacalar barchetta and the Batur coupe is what you see here – the Bentley Batur Convertible. Like the two before, the third coachbuilt Bentley for the modern era is a Mulliner baby. For the record, Mulliner is Bentley’s in-house division that does much more than personalising cars rolling off the factory floor in Crewe.
The design similarities between the Batur derivatives—the Convertible and the Coupe—are apparent. However, Mulliner has blended design cues from other Bentley models. For instance, the wrap-around cockpit has a hint of the Bacalar. Reminiscences of older Bentleys can be seen in the ‘airbridge’ behind the seats and the tapered cowls at the rear. Those two aren’t just pretty things but provide a semi-closed luggage space behind the seats.
Over to pièce de résistance – the retractable roof. It opens or shuts entirely in 19 seconds at up to 50kmph. Acoustic treatments, the sealing system and the use of insulation materials ensure that when the roof is up, it doesn’t let uninvited noises indoors.
Powering the Bentley Batur Convertible is none other than the iconic W12 in its most potent state. It’ll output 750ps of power and 1,000Nm of torque. That should be enough to put a smile across anyone’s face. An eight-speed automatic will oversee transmission duties, while a titanium sports exhaust will keep the excitement levels high.
Just 16 examples of the Bentley Batur Convertible are planned. Mulliner will play a crucial role in ensuring that each example meets its owner’s unique requirements. The customisation choices are virtually endless. For example, buyers can choose the colour and finish of every surface of the open-top grand tourer. Besides hand-painted graphics and the full Mulliner colour palette, finishes such as dark, satin, gloss, or titanium are possible.
Similar customisations can be made to the ‘airbridge’, tonneau cover, roof materials, and cabin to complement the exterior. Many will consider the 3D-printed rose gold embellishments on several surfaces, including the start/stop button and the drive selector, an optional extra.
The specimen showcased here – the Bentley Batur Convertible Car #0 – dons a bespoke paintwork comprising Vermillion Gloss over Vermillion Satin. The front splitters, side skirts and rear diffuser flaunt high gloss carbon fibre. Among other special touches include the 22-inch rims with spokes in Gloss and Satin Black Titanium and the imposing grille’s main section finished in Gloss Dark Titanium.

I’m thinking white with rims in dark titanium. Inside, black seats with white accents and a dark matte titanium finish on the trim.

niiice, white exterior would bring out the black grille and accent lines along the hood. Though since I’ve seen a Batur in purple, I think my mind has restricted itself to just that
