Audi India Drives In Q5 Special Edition

Available for a limited time, the new derivative sits above the Technology variant.

Nearly a year after launching the new Q5 in two variants, Audi India has introduced the third derivative. It’s simply called the Q5 Special Edition, priced at INR 67.05 lakh. That makes it about INR 84,000 dearer than the Technology variant on which it is based. However, the newcomer will be available for a limited period, which helps boost the exclusivity factor.

So, how does the Special Edition stand out? It has a new black styling package, which blacks out the ORVM caps, Audi logos and roof rails. Moreover, the 5-spoke V-style alloys are in Graphite Grey finish. For the body, there are two colour exclusive colour options – District Green and Ibis White. And for that extra something, the Audi Genuine Accessories kit is available at a discounted price when purchased with the Q5 Special Edition. Opting for that ropes in running boards and Audi ring foil silver.

As far as the features list is concerned, it includes a panoramic glass roof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless mobile charger, three-zone automatic climate control and a 19-speaker, 755-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system. Other features, such as eight airbags, powered front seats with memory function, 30-colour ambient lighting, LED headlights, Comfort key and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, are also available.

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre TFSI motor that offers 249hp/370Nm. Coupled with it is a 7-speed automatic transmission that transmits the oomph via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The Q5 Special Edition can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.3 seconds and reach 237kmph flat out. The SUV also comes with adaptive suspension with damping control and Audi Drive Select, which has six drive modes – Comfort, Dynamic, Individual, Auto, Efficiency and Off-Road.

In India, the Audi Q5 rivals the BMW X3, the Volvo XC60, the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Jaguar F-Pace. Out of the lot, only the latter two have a diesel engine option.
