Taiwan’s EVA Air has new aircraft on order from Airbus. However, the two companies recently revealed a new deal that emerged without any details last month. The airline has placed a firm order for nine jets from the European aircraft manufacturer. This agreement includes six A350-1000 widebody aeroplanes and three A321neo narrowbodies. With this new order accounted for, Airbus still needs to deliver 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neo jets.
The order from EVA Air is intended to send a strong message about fleet and network expansion and incorporate jets that set a high standard in their respective categories.
The Airbus A350 is powered by two Rolls-Royce engines, which are powerful and efficient enough to provide a range of 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) without needing a fuel stop. At the same time, it reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions by approximately 25 per cent compared to the previous generation jets. Including EVA Air, Airbus has received over 1,360 orders from operators worldwide for the A350 Family, with more than 640 already in service across 38 operators.
Conversely, the Airbus A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo Family. Since the launch of this variant in 2016, the manufacturer has received over 6,800 orders for the aircraft, including those from EVA Air. Consequently, it has secured more than 80 per cent market share.
