Earlier this week, Air India announced signing a codeshare partnership with a European airline, Icelandair, on the sidelines of the 81st IATA AGM in New Delhi. During the same event, the carrier also inked four interline agreements with as many European airlines. They are airBaltic, Bulgaria Air, Cyprus Airways, and Uzbekistan Airways. As a result, Air India passengers can conveniently access 16 more European destinations across six countries.
The interline agreement with airBaltic opens access to Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia), and Vilnius (Lithuania) via Air India’s European gateways at Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Gatwick, Milan-Malpensa, Vienna, Zurich, or Dubai. Similarly, the paperwork signed with Bulgaria Air allows Air India passengers to reach Sofia via the latter’s gateways at London Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Milan, Zurich, and Tel Aviv. Further Bulgaria Air connections are also available for Air India passengers to Varna and Burgas.
Air India’s interline agreement with Cyprus Airways opens the gate to Larnaca for the former’s passengers from its European gateways at Paris, Milan, and Dubai. Uzbekistan Airways allows Air India passengers to access Tashkent from Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa-Mopa (GOX). Further connections from Tashkent to Bukhara, Qarshi, Nukus, Urgench, Termez, Samarkand, Fergana, and Namangan are also open.
Reciprocally, Air India will provide passengers of the four partner airlines access to more than 30 Indian destinations. Some names from that list are Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi.
