On the sidelines of the 81st IATA AGM in New Delhi, Air India and Icelandair inked paperwork for a new codeshare agreement. Once live, the partnership between the two airlines will boost connectivity between India and Iceland and offer convenient travel options for passengers on 15 routes across India and Europe. As with such bilateral agreements, travellers will benefit from unified baggage allowances, a big plus for international travel.
The paperwork states that Air India passengers can find seamless connections to Reykjavik, Iceland, through Icelandair-operated flights via the Indian airline’s European gateways. The latter will add its designator code ‘AI’ on flights operated by Icelandair between Reykjavik and London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich.

Sales for codeshare flight tickets will commence after securing all required regulatory approvals.
