A. Lange & Söhne (Lange) has unveiled the new Minute Repeater Perpetual for Watches and Wonders 2025. It is the first time Lange has combined the perpetual calendar and minute repeater. It features the iconic Lange outsize date. Housed in a platinum case, the Minute Repeater Perpetual is a limited edition of 50 pieces. It is part of the Saxonia family.

Functions: Central hours and minutes. Seconds with stop-seconds function and moon phase display on subdial at 6 o’clock. Perpetual calendar functions: Outsize date at 12 o’clock. Day of the week and 24-hour time display on subdial at 9 o’clock. Month and leap year on subdial at 3 o’clock. Minute repeater.
Crown for winding the watch and time-setting. Slide on the left side of case for activating minute repeater. Individual correctors for day of the week, month / leap-year and moon phase.
Black enamelled dial is made from 750 gold. Hands are made from 750 gold. Applied Roman numerals are made from 750 gold and rhodiumed. Both moons on the moonphase display are made from 750 gold, surrounded by more than 100 hand-engraved stars.
Powered by L122.2, a hand wound movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds, stop-seconds, moon phase display, perpetual calendar functions, and minute repeater. It is “crafted to the most exacting Lange quality standards, decorated and assembled by hand; precision-adjusted in five positions; three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver; balance cock engraved by hand.” Diameter: 30 mm. Case is made from 950 platinum. Diameter: 40.50 mm. Height: 12.10 mm. Dial and caseback feature a sapphire crystal, with Mohs hardness of 9. Water resistant up to 2 bar or 20 metres. Watch comes with a black hand-stitched alligator leather strap fitted to a deployant buckle made from 950 platinum.
Our Thoughts
Grand complications such as the Minute Repeater Perpetual are the domain of few elite mainstream and independent watch brands. The minute repeater is among the most (perhaps the most) difficult horological complication to master. Lange is an elite watch brand and can fully develop and craft such grand complications. The Minute Repeater Perpetual highlights Lange’s watchmaking prowess at its highest level and is another reminder why they are such a special watchmaker.
