Owning exclusive and one-off cars has now become a standard collector’s affair. But what about owning a colour? An ongoing charity auction gives one lucky collector a chance to acquire a custom-painted 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 and its matching one-of-a-kind non-fungible token (NFT).
The “Own the Color” online auction is being conducted between June 20-24 via Superrare, live to eligible bidders worldwide. The piece up for grabs is a one-of-one 2023 Corvette Z06-inspired NFT artwork created by the artist xsullo. Accompanying the NFT is the American sports car finished in Minted Green, a colour General Motors claims won’t be applied to any other production 2023 Corvette Z06.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit DonorsChoose – an organisation targeted toward aiding teachers in bettering the educational structure within various communities. Interested bidders can place their bid in Ethereum bitcoin.
In addition to a digital certificate of ownership for the art piece, the winning bid gets the Corvette Z06 equipped with the Z07 performance package and a commemorative plaque carrying the art piece details.
“Corvette is a halo at Chevrolet. It’s the pinnacle of performance and staying cutting-edge means getting into new territories as a bit of a pioneer,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “This is our company’s first NFT. We see ‘Own the Color’ as an important stepping stone for Chevrolet into future digital initiatives for our customers.”
In an attempt to bring the digital art to life, the “Own the Color” artwork will be available for viewing at The Crypt Gallery during NFT NYC, one of the most significant NFT events of the year.
