Gallet is back: The Swiss watch brand relaunches with four new collections

• The brand makes a comeback during Geneva Watch Days. • It is part of the House of Brands, a consortium including Breitling and Universal Genève. • The inaugural collections include Flying Officer, Multichron Pilot, Multichron Sport and Gallet Classics. • The references are presented in several different colourways and strap / bracelet options. What is the Gallet relaunch backstory?

Gallet was founded in 1826 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The brand is famous for its stopwatches and chronographs. The quartz crisis of the 1970s and 1980s took a toll on the brand, as it did to the rest of the Swiss watch industry. A few years ago, Breitling bought the rights to the Gallet name and worked tirelessly hard to revive it. Along with Breitling and Universal Genève, it is part of the House of Brands, a consortium first unveiled during Dubai Watch Week in 2025.

Gallet is backed by “Breitling’s craftsmanship, technical expertise, global distribution network, and after-sales service.” It takes the House of Brands into the accessible luxury space. Today finally the wait is over and enticing new references across the Flying Officer, Multichron Pilot, Multichron Sport and Gallet Classics collections are unveiled. They evoke the brand’s historical sense of adventure and travel.

Flying Officer

The Flying Office is inspired by its namesake original that was introduced in 1939. A result of increased air travel and intercontinental flights, “it allowed pilots to track the time at upcoming refuelling stops via the city ring on its rotating bezel. Worn by figures like former U.S. President Harry S. Truman, who called it “the most elaborate watch [he] ever saw,” it quickly moved beyond the cockpit, becoming a watch for those navigating a newly connected world.”

The Flying officer is presented in two editions: Flying Officer Chronograph 40 and Flying Officer Automatic 40. Both feature a rotating bezel with names of cities spread across the 24 time zones.

Powered by Gallet 23, an automatic chronograph movement based on the Sellita SW510. It drives the central hours and minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock and chronograph functions: central 1/4^th seconds and 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. Measuring 30 mm (diameter) * 7.9 mm (thickness), it beats at a modern frequency of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of approximately 62 hours.

Strap / Bracelet options: Leather straps (light brown, brown, and black), rubber straps (green, blue, and black), field straps (green, brown, blue, and anthracite) and fabric straps (green, black, beige). All are fitted with a pin buckle. A stainless steel bracelet with an integrated micro-adjustment system is also an option. The straps and bracelet are interchangeable because of a quick-release system.

Multichron Pilot

The Multichron Pilot is inspired by its namesake original that was introduced in 1969. It “was a purpose-driven chronograph designed for long-duration timing and tracking a second timezone. Engineered for demanding environments, it delivered exceptional legibility for at-a-glance clarity in any light.”

Multichron Sport

The Multichron Sport is inspired by the brand’s historic models such as the Multichron 12 Scientific. The latter “helped shape a technical, performance-driven approach to timing. Over time, the collection became closely tied to motorsport timing.”

Gallet Classics

The Gallet Classics celebrates the 200^th anniversary of the brand. They are “a trio of hand-wound chronographs shaped by the expertise of Gallet historians, collectors, and longtime enthusiasts. Inspired by some of the most significant watches in the brand’s history, the collection offers a contemporary interpretation of these celebrated references.”

Tribute to Multichron Yachting Big Eye (The maritime chronograph): White dial with a tone-on-tone counter at 9 o’clock and a dark blue and red regatta subdial at 3 o’clock.

What do we think?

Reviving a historic watch brand is never easy. Breitling, under the able leadership of Georges Kern (House of Brands CEO) has had to live the idiom “pick up where you left off” to bring Gallet back to life. Based on the images and supporting information, I think they have nailed it.

The four collections evoke Gallet’s history and spirit of adventure and travel and bring something new to the watch industry. The watches in each collection highlight distinct details, interplay of colours, powered by dependable movements and featuring multiple strap options and easy interchangeability. And the peace of mind that Breitling fully backs them.
