What is the Spyker C8 Preliator XXV Coupe?
Spyker has launched its C8 Preliator XXV Coupe at The Quail at Monterey Car Week, California. The vehicle incorporates a newly designed aluminium body and chassis, a twin-turbo V8, and a manual transmission.
It follows Spyker’s aviation-themed design philosophy with NACA air ducts, a rear wing, and aircraft-inspired headlights, along with isogrid designs on grilles, vents, pedal plates, exhaust grid, and seat material.
What is the engine and performance like?
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivers 800 BHP and 1,000 Nm of torque, with top speed more than 349 kmph.
Power is transferred via a standard manual gearbox and not an automatic or twin-clutch transmission. Additionally, the car uses minimal digital screens, as the head-up display serves as the primary screen-based interface, with most controls being analog.
How is the car built?
Its body is crafted from hand-shaped aluminium and is mounted on an improved aluminium spaceframe developed by Spyker. The car’s exterior panels are manufactured by Coventry Prototype Panels in England.
Each Spyker takes around 2,100 hours to manufacture and employs manual craftsmanship on its parts, including the steering wheel, aluminium dash, and interior fittings. The manufacturer has kept aluminium and not moved to carbon fibre material for the manufacture of their cars.
What are the special design and interior features that the car has?
The NACA ducts, afterburner-style rear lights, and large rear fin are among the external design features of the C8 Preliator XXV Coupe. The rear fin also alludes to the 1919 Spyker C1 Aerocoque.
The dashboard is constructed from turned aluminium, and the gear linkage is still exposed. The car shown here is painted in Quail Green with rose-gold accents and an orange-brown leather interior.
The fuel tank is mounted behind the seats and in front of the engine, while the luggage compartment is situated at the front of the car. There is a special system called butterfly mode that lets the rear of the car open to reveal the engine compartment.
What is the production and availability like?
Spyker will produce 25 cars of this model, each one being customised by a customer. At The Quail, the car shown is chassis 270 and is said to be the last of 255 Spyker cars produced since the company’s rebirth in 2000.
No price was mentioned for the retail version, so there are no details available. After its first appearance at The Quail, the C8 Preliator XXV Coupe will be shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2026. Additionally, Spyker has announced the D8 Peking to Paris SSUV and GT3 endurance racing.
