What is the Panerai Luminor 31 Giorni?
For Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, Panerai has unveiled the Luminor 31 Girorni, the latter Italian for “days”. Housed in the brand’s Luminor case, it is the first Panerai watch to deliver a power reserve of 31 days. It is a limited edition of 200 pieces.

Does it have a skeleton dial?

Yes. The skeleton dial with “net-style” structure offers a glimpse into calibre P.2031/S and the exposed barrels. Hands and hour-markers, both indices and Arabic numerals, and arrow at 3 o’clock pointing towards the polarised date window are coated with white Super-LumiNova X2.
Is it powered by a hand-wound movement?
Yes. It is powered by calibre P.2031/S, a hand-wound calibre that drives the hours, minutes, small seconds, date, and power reserve indicator. It measures 15 ¾ lignes (approximately 35.53 mm diameter), 10.06 mm (thickness), comprises 276 parts and 25 jewels and beats at a luxurious rate of 3 Hz or 21,600 vph. Its power reserve of 31 days or 744 hours is provided vial four barrels,“housing a combined 3.3 meters of mainsprings.” with a Torque limiter system (patent-pending).

“The Torque Limiter intelligently optimizes the watch’s performance. It achieves this by selecting an ideal 31-day operational window from a potential 36-day power reserve. By cutting the top and the bottom of the torque barrel, the movement delivers enhanced chronometry, ensuring the watch remains consistent throughout its 31 days of operation. This ingenious system also maintains optimal tension within the mainsprings, safeguarding the movement from potential damage, extending its longevity, and further boosting its precision – all critical achievements in mechanical watch durability. After 31 days, the movement automatically halts, even with remaining power reserve, a deliberate design choice that further protects the intricate mechanism and preserves its long term performance.”
What are its case and strap features?

The case is made from brushed Panerai Goldtech™, “a special alloy composed of gold and copper, with a touch of platinum and silver for enhanced resistance.” Case measures 44 mm (diameter) and both dial side and caseback feature sapphire crystals. Water resistant up to 10 bar or approximately 100 metres. The watch comes with a black alligator leather strap fitted with the Panerai Goldtech folding clasp with PAM Click Release System™. An additional black rubber strap is provided.
What do we think?
The Luminor 31 Giorni showcases Panerai’s serious horological muscles. A 31-day power reserve is no small feat; few brands have tried this. A. Lange & Söhne’s Lange 31, launched in 2007, is another example of this technical mastery.
There is no logical reason to devise such a long power reserve, apart from “because we can.” And the brand has proven that it can. The Luminor 31 Giorni will appeal to serious collectors of the brand or those who appreciate watchmaking for watchmaking’s sake.
