What is the new NOMOS Glashütte Metro date power reserve ice blue and Metro neomatik 41 Update ice blue?

Both are new additions to NOMOS Glashütte’s Metro family. Designed with the pace of life in a modern city, the ice blue dials of both models are “inspired by the reflections of the sky in the glass and steel of major metropolises” and “reflect precision, elegance, and functionality.”

Mark Braun, a Berlin-based “internationally renowned product designer” was responsible for the design of the Metro family. The Metro date power reserve unveiled in 2014 was the first model. It was also the brand’s first watch to feature the NOMOS Swing System, a new escapement that gave the brand technical independence. The narrow bezel, rounded lugs, and sapphire crystal “domed in two different radii” are signature design elements of the Metro family. Notice the knurled crown on both, making it easier to grip.

The Metro date power reserve ice blue features a 37 mm stainless steel case and is powered by a new hand-wound movement that features a quick set date. Both the date mechanism and the power reserve indicator are patented. The Metro neomatik 41 Update ice blue features a 40.5 mm stainless steel case and is powered by an automatic movement. It features the patented NOMOS ring date.

“Modern architecture, constant motion, and a timepiece that keeps up: Metro date power reserve ice blue from NOMOS Glashütte draws its design inspiration from the city. The fine minute track, marking each minute with a single dot, and carefully measured use of negative space are strikingly modern. In ice blue, these details appear particularly crisp and precise.”
