Mercedes-Maybach introduces the SL Monogram Series for the ultimate open-top grand touring experience

The SL Monogram Series gets exclusive Maybach insignias all around with comfort-oriented tweaked ride setup

If you’re one of those who thought the Mercedes-Benz SL convertible sports car isn’t luxurious enough, your complaints have been acknowledged and addressed by Mercedes-Benz as the German luxury carmaker launched the Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series. Mercedes claims the Maybach SL Monogram Series is the sportiest model in the Maybach brand’s history and also appears to be one of the most luxurious modes of convertible grand touring.

To make the customisation a more straightforward affair, Mercedes-Maybach is offering the SL Monogram Series with two sets of curated design concepts – “Red Ambience” and “White Ambience”. For those who aren’t a big fan of these, Mercedes clarifies “Other exterior colours are possible upon specific customer request.” And regardless of which colour theme you choose, the interiors continue to feature sustainably tanned, crystal white MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather and trim parts in gleaming silver chrome.

The convertible roof comprises an acoustic fabric with a special Maybach insignia running across the length and width. The rear lights get a special Maybach signet design element along with a dedicated diffuser design and tailpipe trims with a signature horizontal bar. The most interesting element of the rear is the aerodynamically designed double scoop behind the seat headrests with the chromed Maybach logo.

The fully digital instrument display and the electrically adjustable centre display from the standard car can also be found here but with the fitment of Maybach-specific start-up animations and display styles for the display units. More Maybach-specific interior upgrades include brand logos on the steering wheel, the stainless-steel pedals and the stainless-steel door sill trims.

Maybach has also tweaked the driving experience of the SL Monogram Series to make it more Maybach-specific. The exhaust is now noise-optimised for a quieter and more relaxing drive. The suspension receives a more comfort-oriented calibration and the engine mounts are softer for lesser vibrations to seep inside the cabin. The powertrain stays the same as standard – a 585hp 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine paired to an 9GTRONIC automatic transmission. The 0-100kph sprint takes 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 260kph.

First deliveries for the Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series is slated to commence in Europe from spring 2025 with other markets to follow.
