The Fiat Panda 4X4 will be back in 2023

It will last until 2026

You may not have noticed, but the Fiat Panda 4X4 was temporarily unavailable for order. The cause is the semiconductor crisis that has drastically slowed down the production of the vehicles. This is what Olivier François, the CEO of Fiat and Abarth, said, justifying that the delivery times were becoming too long to be acceptable to customers.

Before the closure of orders, it was already taking seven to eight months to receive a Panda 4X4. François has confirmed that orders will be reopened and production of the city car will resume at the Pomigliano D’Arco plant in 2023. The car will continue its career until 2026. In the meantime, it will have to cohabit with a future B-segment SUV based on the Jeep Avenger which will arrive in 2023.

The new generation of the Panda is also on the way. It will be electric, grow into the B-segment and move upmarket. The current Panda will then serve as an entry-level model for a few years. A good thing, because the Panda 4X4 is one of the few city cars, together with the Suzuki Swift, to offer a 4X4 version. The Italian car also has excellent off-road capabilities.

It is not yet known when dealers will again accept orders for the Panda 4X4. It is also not known when the production of the city car will start again. It is also possible that Fiat has taken advantage of this pause to subtly improve the Panda 4X4 so that it can continue its career quietly. This could include new colours, new rims and new equipment.
