The Gulf Historic Grand Prix returns to Dubai

Dubai Autodrome to host the Gulf Historic GP Revival for the second year in a row

The second Historic Grand Prix will take place in Dubai just a few days after the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This race will take place on the Dubai Autodrome Circuit, stretching 5.4km long. Dubai Autodrome has been the heart of motor racing in Dubai. For this event, one hundred and twenty historic race cars have been shipped to Dubai. Some include F1 champion John Surtees’ eponymous 1972 TS9B, the legendary James Hunt’s first winning Grand Prix car, the Le Mans-winning 1987 Rothmans Porsche 962, the 2006 Aston Martin DBR9 007, the 1991 Ferrari 643 and the 1995 Porsche 997 GT1.

Last year, the Historic Grand Prix had two categories, the F1 and Group C/GT prototype Le Mans-spec cars which included Oliver Webb in the Hesketh 308, Marc Devis and Martin O’Connell and their pink-painted Spice SE90.

This year, there are two separate F1 categories and two different categories for endurance cars. The F1 car lineup will stretch from 1970-1985 (race) and 1988-1994 (demo), sports cars from 1982-1993, which include Group C, IMSA and GTP cars, GT and sports prototypes ranging from 1994-2010 will also be present at the event.

For car owners, fans, drivers and sponsors, this is a unique and special opportunity to connect and experience this event.

The Gulf Historic Race will include dancing, marching bands, traditional music, classic car Concours, a bicycle race around the track for the drivers competing in the race, and a gala dinner.
