What is new in the 2026 BMW 7 Series?
The seventh-generation luxury car comes with extensive updates to its styling cues, technology, electronics, chassis setup, and powertrain options.
As part of BMW’s strategy, the 7 Series will offer combustion engines with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, plug-in hybrid options, and fully electric variants. The 7 Series has been a part of BMW’s model portfolio since 1977 and will help introduce new technology from the company’s Neue Klasse project to existing models.
How has the exterior design evolved?
The 2026 7 Series gets BMW’s latest design language for its luxury-segment cars. These include a redesigned kidney grille, the available Iconic Glow feature, and new crystal-effect headlamps.
BMW Individual offers 130 colours and two-tone combinations, for over 500 colour possibilities.
The optional BMW Individual Dual-Finish Paint incorporates matte and metallic effects. The process requires 12 coats and more than 75 hours in the paint shop, with extensive manual pre-treatment at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, Germany.
What technologies are available on board?
Inside the car, one finds BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X and a driver-centric interface. The BMW Passenger Screen is available, as well as the optional BMW Theatre Screen, which offers rear passengers an 8K screen for streaming content, gaming, and video conferencing.
Other technologies include the updated BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Maps, smartphone connectivity, BMW Digital Key Plus, and over-the-air software updates. Depending on the equipment level, the interior can feature Executive Lounge, four-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, automatic doors, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos.
What drivetrains and ranges do they offer?
The 7 Series comes with various drivetrains and ranges, depending on market requirements.
Fully electric drivetrains use sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology with cylindrical battery cells. For the electric models, the claimed range is more than 720 kilometres (447 miles) under WLTP standards, depending on variant and specifications.
The chassis features adaptive two-axle air suspension, which can be equipped with optional Integral Active Steering and roll stabilisation.
What driver assistance technology does it have?
The new generation of 7 Series comes with extended SAE Level 2 driver assistance technology in respective markets. Motorway Assistant allows hands-free driving up to 130 kmph (81 mph), as legally allowed.
Additional functions include City Assistant, AI-based parking space detection and manoeuvring, and the standard Park Assist system. BMW Maps can show information on the surrounding traffic environment.
BMW is developing a new 7 Series Protection system that provides improved occupant safety. The new car is based on the BMW Protection Core with special materials ensuring VR9 approval and VPAM 10 availability as an option.
The new BMW 7 Series was presented in the Middle East on September 8, 2026, with production carried out at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. Powertrains, equipment, prices, and availability dates may differ by country. Since the BMW Group Middle East has not introduced a unified price across the region, you will need to cheque prices in each market.
