World’s first all-terrain hypercar opens its order book for the UAE

Prodrive Hunter is a 600hp Dakar racer turned street legal

The UAE is one place on Earth to possess the most exotic and flamboyant machines. It was only natural that the world’s first all-terrain hypercar, the Prodrive Hunter, get sold here.

Considering the vast expanses of desert and ultra-rich personalities residing in the UAE, Prodrive has declared the UAE as one of its primary markets. Priced at £1.25 million (or $1.58 million), the Hunter seems to be the ideal fit for private car collectors in the region, which are many. The firm will also be accomodating certain individual specifications, provided it comes from select supercar enthusiasts.

“The UAE has vast expanses of breath-taking desert terrain still to be explored, beyond the reach of asphalt roads,” said Prodrive chairman David Richards. “The Hunter opens up these regions with a performance and capability way beyond that offered previously by any all-terrain vehicle.”

The Hunter debuted two months ago at the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix. It is based on a Dakar rally car raced by Sebastien Loeb, though this road-going version features additional creature comforts and more power! It features a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo engine with a 50 per cent increase in power compared to the Dakar version to put out a mammoth 600bhp and 700Nm torque. The gearbox gets switched from a manual sequential gearbox in the Dakar derivative with a six-speed paddle shifter. The suspension has been softened to provide a plush ride on this all-terrain vehicle. This makes the Hunter capable of accelerating from 0-100kph within four seconds while topping out at nearly 300kph.

The first batch of production version Hunters is currently being refined at the firm’s UK base in Banbury. Upon completion, Prodrive says the vehicle will be shipped to the UAE for customers to test the car out and confirm their individual specifications. Though, the more eager customers are being invited to the headquarters to have a go at the Hunter.
