WOLF introduces the Philipp, a new watch and jewellery lifestyle box

Launched in celebration of WOLF’s 190th anniversary, the Philipp is inspired by the original box designed by Philipp Wolf IV in the 1970’s.

WOLF, founded in Germany in 1834, is a well-known brand that specialises in designing and handcrafting “luxury jewelry accessories, watch boxes, cases & watch winders.”  After moving to Sweden and then England, the brand continues to handcraft their range of products at their own private facility in China.

To celebrate their 190th anniversary, WOLF “have designed five limited edition collections inspired by the people wo made WOLF what it is today.”  They include Silver, Ida, Ballet, Philipp, and Earth.

The Philipp, a men’s watch and jewellery lifestyle box, is the fourth release. It is inspired by the original box, which was designed by Philipp Wolf IV during the 1970’s. It combines 1970’s vintage aesthetics and a modern presence.

Sustainability

Sustainability is integral to WOLF. “All WOLF products are handmade from quality materials using sustainable materials and recycled products wherever possible; every product is simply made to last a lifetime or longer.”  Few of WOLF’s sustainability initiatives include the use of recycled packaging, using solar panels on their offices, shipping products using sea over air whenever possible, and always “putting the environment first.”  They are working towards obtaining the Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark, through a demanding ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assessment “across their global operations.”

Our Thoughts

I own an artisanal handcrafted box (smaller than the Philipp), and two leather timepiece boxes (for one and for two timepieces), the latter from an English brand, and can relate to the appeal of the Philipp. Based on images and supporting information, the Philipp is a good-looking and exquisite box for a gentleman, much needed to safely keep a few timepieces, pens, cufflinks, papers, and other such personal items of importance to him. Given WOLF’s history, meticulous craftsmanship and sustainability commitment and initiatives, the Philipp is destined to become a collectible and an heirloom, as much as the ones that will be safely stored inside it.
