Vietnam Airlines Will Launch A New Direct Service To Indonesia

It goes live in June 2025.

In 2024, more than 800,000 passengers flew between Vietnam and Indonesia, a 61 per cent jump from the 2019 figure. Vietnam Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, aims to capitalise on this upward trend, help boost tourism, and increase its presence in Indonesia, the world’s fourth-most populous nation and the largest tourism market in Southeast Asia. How? By introducing its second nonstop service between the two countries.

Starting June 1, 2025, Vietnam Airlines will launch a direct flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Denpasar, the capital of Bali Province. This route will initially operate four times weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. About a month later, the frequency will increase to seven weekly flights. The airline will deploy an Airbus A321 to ferry passengers on the newly announced route. Once live, Vietnam Airlines will have 14 weekly services between its home country and Indonesia.

At a recently conducted event, the airline inked an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Association of Indonesian Travel Agents (ASTINDO) to strengthen tourism between the two nations through joint marketing activities and collaborative air travel services.

That’s not all. Vietnam Airlines’ Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dang Ngoc Hoa, confirmed that to enhance bilateral tourism, the carrier will keep exploring opportunities to build partnerships with airlines, partners, and stakeholders in the Indonesian market, increasing flight frequencies and improving service quality at all touchpoints.
