Video: Watch Koenigsegg Jesko Attack break the lap record at Laguna Seca
This was the first outing of the sub-1600hp track-focussed hypercar on this California racetrack
Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg decided it hadn’t made headlines in a while so its Jesko Attack hypercar was made to go around the iconic Laguna Seca racing track in California and it managed to set a lap record along the way. The Jesko Attack set a lap record for homologated production cars at Laguna Seca Raceway on August 18th, 2024 by blitzing past the 3.6 km racetrack in 1.24.86 minutes. It beat Czinger C21’s previous record of 1.25.44 minutes set in 2021.
The Jesko Attack, a more track-focussed version designed to shave lap times than pursue top speed, boasts a 5.1-litre twin-turbocharged V8 booting out 1,578bhp. Neither the development test driver Markus Lundh nor the Jesko Attack had ever been at the iconic racetrack, renowned for its complex corners, dramatic elevation changes and the notorious Corkscrew, before this run and yet managed to set a lap record in its first go.
