Indigo Leases 10 Jets To Strengthen Fleet

To further expand its reach in India and overseas, Indigo has inked a lease agreement with Singapore-headquartered BOC Aviation. The contract involves the latter to supply 10 Airbus A320Neo aircraft to the former. All jets in the equation are powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, and the delivery process should be completed before the calendar reads 2024.

With a fleet of more than 300 aircraft, Indigo operates around 1,900 flights daily and connects 79 destinations in its home country. Earlier this week, the airline confirmed that it will add two new international destinations to its portfolio next month.

Volvo To Unveil A New EV Soon

Geely-backed Volvo Cars has announced that on November 12, 2023, it will unveil an all-new electric vehicle (EV). Dubbed EM90, it will become the Swedish brand’s first-ever fully electric “premium” MPV. Although the company hasn’t revealed any other details at the moment, a calculated guess would lead many to believe that the upcoming people mover is likely to share many of its bits, including the platform and powertrain, with the EX90 electric SUV. In typical Volvo fashion, however, more teasers and bit-by-bit revelations will follow until the D day arrives.

Dassault Falcon 6X Awarded Type Certification

French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation confirms that its Falcon 6X model has been awarded type certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It’s an important milestone for the brand and the model in question. Dassault Aviation logged 1,500 flight hours worldwide with the Falcon 6X to bag the certifications. And this test campaign took more than two years.

This development propels the Falcon 6X towards entry into service. Dassault Aviation says the first units of the twin-engine, long-range business jet are undergoing final completion.

Indigo To Fly To Tashkent And Almaty From These Dates

One of India’s leading airlines, Indigo, has confirmed that it will commence direct flights to two new international destinations from next month. On September 22, 2023, at 20:50, an Indigo aircraft (6E 1805) will take flight from New Delhi to Tashkent. That is scheduled to land at Uzbekistan’s capital city at 23:25 local time. And only a few hours later, at 01:05 on September 23, 2023, the 6E 1806 flight number will depart for the return journey. Indigo says it will run four weekly non-stop flights between the abovementioned cities.

The second international destination is another Central Asian city – Almaty. Known as the largest city in Kazakhstan, it was the nation’s capital until 1997. Indigo will start direct flights to the city from India’s capital on September 23, 2023. The outbound flight (6E 1801) will depart at 20:50 IST and is scheduled to land in Almaty at 01:05 local time on September 24, 2023. The return flight (6E 1802) will fly an hour later and should arrive in New Delhi at 05:10 IST.

Flights to Almaty and Tashkent will increase Indigo’s international destination count to 32. Overall, the Indian carrier’s portfolio will reach 111 cities.

Rimac Nevera Continues To Set New Records

In case you’ve forgotten, lifetime production for the Rimac Nevera is restricted to 150 units. So, the chances of you spotting one on the run are extremely less. However, there’s a special version of the already limited-run hypercar. And it’s called the Rimac Nevera Time Attack. Unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in Monterey this year, the uniquely named specimen is the one-of-twelve planned. It recently took a speedy stroll around the fearsome Nurburgring. And guess what! It shattered the previous lap record for production EVs by 20 seconds. It lapped the 20.6km stretch of “The Green Hell” in 7 minutes and 5.298 seconds.

Earlier this year, the Rimac Nevera claimed the title of the fastest-ever electric production car to complete the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb. Before that, it set 23 performance records in one day, including a 0-400-0kmph sprint-brake stint in under 30 seconds.

Mahindra launches Global Pik Up as a lifestyle pickup truck

Indian automaker Mahindra appears to be on the offensive with its plan of entering newer international markets while strengthening its presence in existing ones with a range of world-class products, beginning with the newly launched Global Pik Up Concept. It gets built on the new-gen Ladder Frame platform with a satin-finish titanium-gold paint and promises to be one of the most capable pickups upon reaching production. Mahindra's intelligent 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system will be equipped on it, and the automaker aims to acquire a 5-Star safety rating using advanced safety technologies. Inside, the fitment of an infotainment system and immersive audio system will combine to allow the Mahindra Global Pik Up to appeal to the lifestyle pickup market. Upon final production, Mahindra will initially launch the Pik Up in existing markets, including South Africa, ANZ, and Africa MENA and then expand to ASEAN markets in a phased manner.

This new eSUV has been built on the INGLO-born electric platform, comes equipped with a high-performance AWD electric powertrain, and features geometric surfaces on the exterior comprising near-vertical windows to maximise space and create a commanding presence. The cabin fabrics are made of 50% recycled PET with a commitment to utilise uncoated recyclable plastics.
