Cathay Group’s Love For The Airbus A330 Grows Stronger

For nearly thirty years, Cathay Pacific has operated the A330 aircraft, making it one of the most experienced operators of the type worldwide. The Cathay Group adores the mid-size widebody aeroplane so much that it has placed a fresh firm order for 30 Airbus A330-900s.

The new A330-300 aircraft will replace the older A330-300 and help the Hong Kong-based company expand operations on its high-capacity regional routes. They will also allow Cathay Group to serve longer-range destinations.

The Airbus A330-900s will be powered by the latest-gen Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. The aircraft will have a range of up to 7,200 nautical miles (13,330 km) without stopping for a refuel. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A330-900 can operate with up to 50 per cent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

Maserati to unveil new super sports car at Monterey Car Week 2024

The Quail refers to one of the world’s most prestigious gatherings of motorsport enthusiasts and luxury car collectors. It gets hosted alongside luxury car auctions as part of the larger Monterey Car Week 2024 due to take place in California from August 14 to 19. The 2024 edition of The Quail slated to be hosted on August 16th will see Maserati unveil its newest creation to the world – an evolution of the Maserati MC12 super sports car. This unnamed evolutionary Maserati MC12 iteration is said to be developed, designed and produced entirely in Italy by Maserati and inherits the racing spirit of the Maserati GT2 race car. The high-anticipated launch of an all-new Maserati super sports car will see two derivatives – a track version along with its road counterpart, getting unveiled.

The world premiere of this new Maserati super sports car will be introduced by Giovanni Perosino, the brand’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, along with Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design. The new Maserati unveil will be accompanied by the MC20 Icona and MC Extrema also stationed on display. Porsche to sell Cayenne in petrol, hybrid and EV powertrain options

It was in mid-2023 when Porsche announced its iconic 911 sports car might be the only model to retain the combustion engine. Since then, Porsche has already electrified the Macan in its second generation and now, Porsche charges ahead to electrify one of its best-selling models, the Cayenne. Porsche declares the fourth-generation Cayenne will be all-electric with testing for the Cayenne EV already underway.

However, Porsche has also announced the development of its hybrid and combustion engine models is simultaneously underway and the Cayenne SUV will be offered in three powertrain variants worldwide up to 2030 and beyond. “The third generation of the Cayenne will be further upgraded and will continue to be offered alongside the fourth, all-electric generation”, says Blume, CEO of Porsche AG. Even though the current-gen Cayenne received one of the most comprehensive updates earlier this year, Porsche maintains its stance to continue pumping further development into the third-gen Cayenne such as improving the efficiency of the V8 and ensuring the twin-turbo engine is ready to comply with future legislative requirements. “Our product strategy could enable us to deliver more than 80 per cent of our new cars fully electrified in 2030 – depending on the demand of our customers and the development of electromobility in the regions of the world,” said Blume.

Farnborough Airshow: Airbus And Abra Group Sign MoU For A350s

The majority investor of Avianca and Gol Airlines, Abra Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024. The MoU involves five A350-900s to strengthen long-distance flight operations and increase capacity. The idea is to provide better connectivity from Latin America to the rest of the world.

The Airbus A350 can accommodate 300 to 410 passengers, depending on the configuration. With its aerodynamic design, lightweight materials, and new-gen engines, the aircraft can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles nonstop. Compared to the previous-gen jet, the A350 offers a 25 per cent reduction in fuel consumption, operating costs and CO2 emissions. Airbus also claims a 50 per cent reduction in noise.

Airbus has sold more than 1,300 aircraft in Latin America and the Caribbean. The European manufacturer has a leading market share of in-service passenger jets, with 800 already in operation and the remaining 500 are yet to be delivered.

Farnborough Airshow: flynas Intends To Buy 90 More Airbus Jets

At the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, flynas and Airbus inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 90 more aircraft. The low-cost carrier from Saudi Arabia has shown interest to purchase 75 A320neo family aeroplanes and 15 A330-900s. This is in addition to the airline’s order for Airbus narrowbody jets, a deal the duo cracked during last year’s Paris Air Show.

The additional aircraft order with the European manufacturer will help the carrier strengthen its regional and international routes. Per the paperwork, the A330-900 will feature a two-class configuration, offering seating capacity for 400 passengers. The aircraft comes packed with two new-gen Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, new wings and several aerodynamic enhancements. As a result, it delivers a 25 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to its predecessor. The Airbus A330-900 offers a range of 8,150 nautical miles (15,094 km), plenty for those long routes.
