Toyota Urban Cruiser Launched In The UAE

Expanding Toyota’s range of compact crossovers in the UAE is what you see here – the Urban Cruiser. It is available in two trim levels, GL and GLX. Their retail prices are AED 76,900 and AED 82,900, respectively. The five-seater can be configured and ordered online or by visiting any of the Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms in the country.

Powering the Toyota Urban Cruiser is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that puts out 102hp/138Nm. The oomph is routed to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission (torque converter). In the mix is a mild-hybrid system that, besides aiding the internal combustion engine while setting off, also boosts the fuel economy. According to Toyota, the mileage figure can go as high as 19.8kmpl.

In the GL form, the Toyota Urban Cruiser comes with features like automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4-speaker sound system, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlamps, cruise control, six airbags, Hill Hold Control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. For an extra AED 6,000, that list expands with stuff such as a surround-view camera, auto-folding ORVMs, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an option for a two-tone body colour, ambient lighting, rear USB ports, a wireless mobile charger and a head-up display.

Toyota offers the Urban Cruiser in seven monotone shades: Pearl White, Metallic Silver, Metallic Grey, Pearl Red, Pearl Black, Brown Family colour and Speedy Blue. And as mentioned above, the GLX variant can be had with a two-tone finish. A Pearl Black roof can be teamed with Pearl White, Metallic Silver, Pearl Red or Speedy Blue hues.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser looks good, is reasonably priced and should keep the running costs low. The newcomer sits above the Raize compact SUV in Toyota UAE’s range. The question is – how do you like it?
