This Performance Kit Makes The 911 GT3 Even Faster

And it is approved by Porsche!

Those who buy the Porsche 911 GT3 don’t usually come out and say, “I wish it went even faster”. But, of course, there are some who do. Well, they can now ask for the Manthey Performance Kit for their current-gen track-bred road car.

What happens then? Porsche says that the performance kit ropes in modifications to the aerodynamics and some of the chassis components. Or, in simple English, the 911 GT3 becomes faster through corners. As a result, it can lap the fearsome 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes and 55.737 seconds. That’s 4.19 seconds quicker than the standard GT sports car. And that’s when both cars had the same type of tyres – the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R.

Of course, you’d want to know finer details about the kit in question. So, to improve aerodynamics, the 911 GT3 gets a more prominent spoiler lip and side flaps at the front. Those work in tandem with the tweaked air guide elements on the car’s underbody to increase downforce. Doing the same at the back is s a wider wing with a tear-off edge. And the fins of the rear diffuser, and the aerodiscs on the back wheels, are made out of CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer).

Don’t worry because there’s more nerdy stuff. The performance package also brings a new four-way coilover suspension for the 911 GT3. The adjustable setup helps improve handling in high-speed corners. And get this – Porsche claims that even with the track-focused spings in place, the 911 GT3 will be still acceptable for use in the real world. And if you want to take things a notch higher, get the optional lightweight forged wheels, racing brake pads and illuminated door sill guards.

So, there you have it. The kit will help you post better lap times and impress those who love science. The Mathey Performance Kit from Porsche Tequipment is now available for buyers in Europe. As for deliveries, they will commence in the autumn of 2022. Yes, the package will soon be available for other markets and no, installing it will not void the manufacturer’s warranty on the 911 GT3.
