This Is The All-New Chevrolet Traverse

The midsize SUV will be available in four trim levels – LS, LT, Z71 and RS.

What you see here is the all-new Chevrolet Traverse. A lot has changed when compared to its predecessor. However, the new model will strengthen its maker’s game in the midsize SUV space. Scott Bell, VP of Chevrolet, says: “Our new Traverse is designed and engineered to act and look more like an SUV”.

Four trim levels have been devised for the new Chevrolet Traverse – LS, LT, Z71 and RS. All models will be powered by an all-new 2.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 315hp/430Nm. In comparison, the 3.6-litre V6 in the outgoing model generates 310hp/361Nm, which means the 2024 model offers a 19 per cent increase in torque. Mated to the new powerplant will be an 8-speed automatic transmission. The convenience of all-wheel-drive (AWD) is also available, including an off-road capable twin-clutch AWD system exclusive to the Z71 derivative.

The Z71 is a new addition to the Traverse lineup. And as mentioned above, it is the most off-road capable of the range. In addition to the beefier AWD system, it features an over 1-inch of increased ground clearance, bigger track width, all-terrain tyres with 18-inch rims, a specific terrain mode and dampers with a hydraulic rebound. Chevrolet has also given the Z71 a unique front fascia for an improved approach angle, an aluminium skid plate and red tow hooks. Also, the standard trailering package is part of the equation.

The all-new Chevrolet Traverse also improves on standard safety and driver assistance systems. The list includes automatic emergency braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Following Distance Indicator. Additional features that fall in the same bucket, such as adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, Speed Limit Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, are also available.

In terms of design, tach trim has its own presence. However, the standard silhouette is way more butch than before. The more upright stance is complemented by all-new front and rear light enclosures, the dual-exhaust system with a chrome finish, the new panoramic dual-glass sunroof with power sunshade and three new colours – Lakeshore Blue, Stardust and Harvest Bronze.

Chevrolet will offer Midnight/Sport Edition with the LS and LT trims. As far as the RS is concerned, it features more upmarket features, such as 22-inch high-gloss black aluminium wheels, a sportier suspension setup, black accents on the grille, roof rails and mouldings and power-folding second-row seats.

The all-new Chevrolet Traverse also betters on creature comforts. The list includes a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless mobile charger, six USB ports, Wi-Fi connectivity and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. Other available features include heated seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery, 7- and 8-seater layouts and one-touch folding third-row seats.

Chevrolet will launch the all-new Traverse early next year, with GM’s Lansing Delta Township facility in Michigan handling production duties.
