The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale Is Not For The Weak

Ferrari unveiled the 296 Speciale, equipped with Piloti Ferrari, at the Circuit de la Sarthe during the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours. This livery pays homage to Ferrari’s customer racing drivers and celebrates successes in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). It is inspired by the 499P, which won the 2023 and 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours in the hypercar category.

The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale is offered in four racing-inspired colours: Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour de France, Nero Daytona, and Argento Nürburgring. The exterior paintwork, inspired by the 499P and finished in Giallo Modena, features a hand-painted WEC logo, the Italian flag on the front fender, and a customisable number chosen by the customer. The model unveiled at Le Mans bears the number 51, which Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi won in 2023, the year Ferrari made its official return to top-flight endurance racing and marked the centenary of the French race.

The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale’s interior features racing seats upholstered in black thermoformed Alcantara, with inserts made from the same fire-resistant fabric used in the drivers’ official suits. The car number is printed on the carbon fibre interior, while the technical metal footwell can be customised upon request. Every detail is designed to reflect the driving experience and sense of belonging shared by racing enthusiasts. The customisation is completed with a carbon fibre identification plate and a carbon fibre door sill featuring an exclusive, customisable dedication.

The 296 Speciale represents a significant evolution of the 296 GTB and is a special edition of the Ferrari mid-rear-engined Berlinetta. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 120-degree twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor, producing a total output of 880 hp. The internal combustion engine has been refined and enhanced with components also derived from Formula 1. Meanwhile, the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been optimised to align with Ferrari’s quick-shifting strategy, maximising electric torque and enabling gear changes to be made faster and more responsive. The weight has been reduced, and aerodynamic downforce has increased by 20% compared to the 296 GTB. The chassis has been redesigned for even more responsive and precise performance on the track. Its compact dimensions and design incorporate radical technical solutions, such as the Gamma rear wings, suspended diffusers, and an extended diffuser, which add a racing aesthetic. 499P

The 499P features a carbon fibre monocoque and double wishbone suspension. Aerodynamics has been optimised for efficiency and stability on all types of tracks.
