The Nissan Ariya Surfwagon is the craziest concept car at SEMA 2022

Nissan has always been famed for producing some really rather impressive concept cars over the years, but its latest one might be the greatest… and weirdest yet.

Presented at SEMA 2022, the Nissan Ariya Surfwagon is a beach-inspired all-electric crossover that looks absolutely bonkers, thanks to its bright blue accents and surfboard looks. 

Aside from wearing a surfboard that is strapped to its roof, this Ariya concept also features a set of 20-inch wheels that have polished stainless steel centre caps and whitewall tyres – when was the last time you saw a whitewall on a modern car? 

Adding to the looks and style include all-around custom lowered suspension and wooden-style cladding on the side, because why not?

This really reminds us of something you’d find on “woodie” wagons that were especially popular in California in the 20th Century. 

But what this concept is based on is the all-new Nissan Ariya that launched recently as a mid-sized crossover EV to take on the likes of the Tesla Model X and Skoda Enyaq iV. The range-topping e-4orce model produces 302bhp and generates an astonishing 600Nm of torque to get it from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, then on to a top speed of 124mph.
