American EV giant Tesla may have sent shockwaves in the subcontinent by announcing its official arrival in India, but one of India’s fastest-growing car brands also unveiled its milestone launch. South Korean carmaker Kia announced the launch of the new Kia Carens Clavis EV – Kia’s first Made-In-India EV. The new Kia Carens Clavis EV is Kia’s affordable but lifestyle-ready recreational vehicle for the family with seating for seven, powered by an electric powertrain. Prices for the Kia Carens Clavis EV start at INR 17.99 lacs (ex-showroom) with customer bookings commencing on July 22, 2025.

KIA Carens Clavis EV: Battery Trims and Range
The new KIA Carens Clavis EV will be offered with two battery options – a 42 kWh battery with 404 km ARAI-certified range and a 51.4 kWh battery with 490 km ARAI-certified range. Kia claims the battery packs are IP67-certified, making them dustproof and waterproof. The Carens Clavis EV also packs advanced thermal management systems comprising liquid-cooling functionality within the battery, along with an Active Air Flap to ensure consistent performance across a multitude of environmental conditions.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV’s charging capabilities allow 100kW DC fast charging, ensuring a 10–80% top-up takes 39 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charger. Power outputs for both battery packs are as follows: 132hp for the 42kWh battery pack and 167hp for the bigger 51.4kWh battery pack. The Clavis EV also boasts regenerative braking via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Four levels of regenerative braking are on offer, including an i-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving. Additionally, users will benefit from the intelligent Auto Mode, which automatically adjusts the regeneration braking levels depending on the real-time traffic conditions.

Additionally, the Carens Clavis EV supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality both inside and outside. This feature allows users to power external devices, making it ideal for camping and work.
KIA Carens Clavis EV: Interior Features
The Carens Clavis EV gets a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display setup for infotainment and instrument cluster duties. An 8-speaker premium BOSE audio system will keep the occupants entertained. Creature comforts such as a smart climate control switch, front ventilated seats, and power-adjustable driver seat galore within the cabin, while the flexible second row features one-touch electric tumble for easier third row access and a BOSS mode. The cabin of the Kia Carens Clavis EV with its dual-pane panoramic sunroof, floating center console with ambient light accents, and Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI display shall ensure the occupants never feel claustrophobic inside the new Kia EV.

KIA Carens Clavis EV: Safety Features
The Kia Carens Clavis EV boasts Level 2 ADAS features comprising more than 20 autonomous driving systems, such as Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and more. It also gets six airbags along with ESC, ISOFIX anchors, and rollover sensors.

KIA Carens Clavis EV: Connected Car technology and charging infrastructure
Users of the Carens Clavis EV shall enjoy more than 90 connected car features, enabling drivers to remotely manage charging schedules, set range alerts, and access charging locations. Customers of the Clavis EV will further benefit from KIA’s extensive 11,000 charging points across India via the MyKia app.
