The new BMW M2 will get the M4’s engine

Presentation in October

This is the final stretch for the future BMW M2. The smallest of the Bavarian Motorsport cars is currently fine-tuning its settings on the Salzburgring circuit in Austria. Chassis and driving dynamics, two crucial variables for keeping up with the competition, are being examined with a fine-tooth comb. The German brand has already announced that the latest model will offer driving sensations comparable to those of the M2 CS.

In terms of styling, the M2 will follow a traditional recipe of aggressive design and athletic stance. This includes a lowered chassis, large wheels, wide air intakes and carbon body parts. Under the bonnet, the car will be powered by the same core as the M3 and M4, namely a 3.0-litre inline-six that will probably develop 450 PS, although this information has not been confirmed by the brand.

The M2 will offer a choice of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive will be the norm, and four-wheel steering may also be standard. While the M240i’s cabin is similar to that of the M3 and M4, the M2 will be an exception to the rule, with two large screens in a row for the cluster and the infotainment.

The new BMW M2 will be presented in October and will go on sale in April 2023.
