The Mercedes C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are close to retirement

The end of an era

In order to remain competitive, brands must now rationalise their ranges and direct their investments towards the most buoyant segments. In this sense, it is the coupes and cabriolets that are particularly affected by these measures as they are very much behind in terms of sales. At Mercedes, it is the C-Class Coupé and Cabriolet that will soon be affected by this economy policy.

The two vehicles will not be replaced and the order book for the current generation will be open until the end of the year. After that, it will no longer be possible to buy a new C-Class Coupé or Cabriolet. The last examples will then be assembled in the spring of 2023 at the Mercedes plant in Bremen before the assembly lines are shut down for good. The E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet are expected to meet a similar fate.

Unsurprisingly, the star brand will focus on SUVs, which account for more than half of global car sales. However, niche vehicles with comfortable margins will not be forgotten. The C-Class Coupe, C-Class Convertible, E-Class Coupe and E-Class Convertible will thus have indirect successors called CLE Coupe and CLE Convertible. The duo will probably be presented in the year 2023.
