The Kia PV5 Cargo and Passenger are here to redefine space and mobility

Here is the new PV5 with its low beltline and boxy looks, it’s set to be the new standard for EV vans

The days of the petroleum-fueled cargo van aren’t numbered, but they look dated when you see the new Kia PV5. This new all-electric small cargo and passenger van is set to disrupt the city and light-commercial van segment. Kia is claiming the PV5 will have unprecedented flexibility and customization, but let’s dive a bit deeper before we give it to them.

The PV5 certainly has a fresh aesthetic compared to the current offerings from other manufacturers. The low beltline and gobs of dark glass are a good look. From a driver’s point of view, the visibility out of it must be excellent. It has black geometric wheel arch claddings and rocker panels which make it look more rugged. The signature lighting and black accents give it a futuristic vibe. There is a single lift-up tailgate for the passenger model and barn doors for the cargo van. The cargo van itself looks even boxier, mostly due to the lack of windows. But it’s the rear doors that will be the giveaway, at least until Kia offers a passenger variety with the barn doors.

It won’t just be the cargo and passenger. Kia is said to be offering specialized conversion options and a third body style they haven’t released yet. I’m not sure if the best vehicle for their first PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) chassis is the most exciting move, but Kia is all in with their PV5!

Cheers!
