The Giamaro Automobili Katla Is a 2127HP Hypercar from Italy’s Bold New Car Brand

Italy – considered the birthplace of automotive greatness by many, now has a new up-and-coming name. The new brand is called Giamaro Automobili and it is the latest all-new automaker to come out of Modena’s Motor Valley, aiming to be “a new force in the world of ultra-high-performance motoring”. To kick things off, Giamaro Automobili introduced a homegrown engineered V12 quad-turbo engine along with its first-ever hypercar, the Giamaro Automobili Katla. Alongside Katla, Giamaro Automobili also revealed the Albor — the second model in its growing vehicle range.

Named after Iceland’s most formidable and unpredictable volcano, the Giamaro Automobili Katla is the brand’s first hypercar. The automaker claims the Katla was designed to primarily house a quad-turbo V12 while “everything else was sculpted around that heartbeat.” The 6,988-cc quad-turbo V12 engine, designed in a 120° “hot V” configuration, has been developed entirely in-house. Owners would possess three keys – the white key keeps the power output under 800hp for calm driving, the black key unlocks 1647hp with 1556Nm torques and the all-ultimate red key unleashes 2127hp and 2008Nm torques. Gearbox duties come down to a 7-speed Cima AMT rear transaxle gearbox, available with paddle shifters or a manual configuration, sending power to the rear wheels.

A hypercar should radiate speed and power with its design and the Katla with its edgy, sleek and excessively aerodynamically proportioned body certainly resonates the same. Vents galore across almost every inch of the Katla, right from the bonnet to the side profile and even the roof. The square front intakes nod to jet fighter afterburners. The Katla also features a dynamic, variable-load wing that adjusts its height and angle depending on the speed and trajectory of the car in real time.

Similar to the squared front intakes, the interior is inspired by a jet fighter cockpit. Every functionality and input mechanism is angled towards the driver. High-end materials comprising carbon fibre, aluminium, and refined textile weaves can be found in abundance to create a deeper connection between the Katla hypercar and the driver. Giamaro Automobili claims, “You don’t operate Katla. You become one with it.”

Customisation on the Giamaro Automobili Katla doesn’t simply extend to colours and trims but the driving experience as well. “Steering feel, suspension behaviour, personalised driving modes, throttle mapping — every dynamic element is tuned to match a unique and personal vision of the perfect drive”, claims Giamaro Automobili.

Giamaro Automobili Albor

The launch also saw Giamaro Automobili tease its second model, the Albor. The Giamaro Automobili Albor, even though early in development, is scheduled for production as an elevated hypercar. There is no word on the Albor’s off-roading capabilities yet but the brand described the ideal target market for the Albor as, “For those who want to stand taller, drive harder, and live louder. Albor doesn’t blend in. It carves its own path.” The floor is open for perception.
