RUMS:
The Team at The Colours of Rum sources rums from the top rum regions. These include:
Jamaica: This Caribbean island country is home to these distilleries: Appleton Estate, New Yarmouth, Hampden, Long Pond, Clarendon/Monymusk and Worthy Park.
Barbados: This Caribbean island country is home to these distilleries: Mount Gay, West Indies Rum Distillery, St. Nicholas Abbey and Foursquare.
Guyana: This South American country was once home to over three hundred distilleries about two hundred years ago. Today the Demerara Distillers uses the original names of heritage distilleries such as Port Mourant, Uitvlugt or Versailles and Enmore.
Trinidad: This island country in the West Indies (the other smaller island being Tobago) is home to Angostura Distillery, and the now closed (2002) famous Caroni Distillery.
Guadeloupe: This Caribbean archipelago, part of overseas department and region of France, is home to nine distilleries, which includes Damoiseau, Montebello, Bellevue, Poisson and Bielle.
Fiji: This island country – archipelago of more than 330 islands – in the South Pacific Ocean is home to the South Pacific Distillery.
In their own words:
“These countries and producers represent only a few of the most renowned locations. Rum is made all around the world drawing on centuries old traditions, cultures and production techniques. The regulations surrounding rum production vary greatly around the world, leading a large variation of style and quality. This in turn places great emphasis on the experience and skill of the producers and the selection of casks. The Colours of Rum series aims to showcase the abundance of flavours and aromas for which rum is renowned.”
Furthermore:
“The global rum market is worth roughly $15 billion and it is forecast to grow at 8% per year. Over the last 20 years rum has reclaimed its position as a premium drink for real connoisseurs. This growing interest, allied to critical recognition of the category, has seen new editions from distilleries such as Foursquare, Caroni, Hampden and others being sought-after among enthusiasts and collectors of spirits who previously devoted their whole attention to whiskies. This burgeoning new market has even led to the start of first dedicated rum auction site.”
“The Colours of Rum collection provides a response to these new market demands. The collection will feature rums from top regions. The collection will include a large variety of rums to build loyalty of customers. You can find The Colours of Rum all around the world with premium retailers. We also would like to draw your attention to the Impressions series within The Colours of Rum family. It was created to combine finest and rarest rums with exquisite, premium presentation.”
The COLOURS OF RUM’S ACTIVITIES:
The Colours of Rum’s first collection debuted in 2021. Their collection of rums includes those that have undergone Continental Aging, or a mix between Tropical and Continental Aging. Magdalena and Dominik are present at all the important rum and whisky fairs, where they have built invaluable relationships with renown distilleries, producers, retailers, and other key stakeholders in the world of rum. Magdalena hosts a Rum Masterclass at these fairs, as well as for bars and communities upon prior arrangement.
Whether one is a beginner in the world of rum, a connoisseur of rum, or a seasoned collector looking to enhance your liquor collection, The Colours of Rum has the perfect rum for you. The team will be happy to guide you through their selection and suggest the perfect rum for you.
They have begun a membership-based community called ‘Up Spirits Club,’ where their “goal is to deliver selected, private bottlings of spirits to all Members. You can expect dedicated offers that will not be available outside this community.” They also “plan to organize online and “offline” tastings, deliver samples, provide exclusive educational content and organize Club Members’ visits to distilleries.”
In addition to the above, they provide business consulting and professional services to those keen to establish a spirit’s business or those who are established but are keen to drive their businesses further forward. These areas include “product sourcing, logistics, storage, marketing, brand building, design, production, distribution, trading,” to name a few.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS:
The recent resurgence in the popularity of rum, and where The Colours of Rum fits in the market is best explained by Magdalena herself. According to her, “Rum’s image has changed, and it is increasingly being taken seriously as a high-quality spirit to rank alongside Cognac and Scotch. It will probably never surpass Scotch (in terms of high prices), but shares many attributes with it, such as vintage and limited releases, provenance, collectability, craft spirit, and with a variety of styles. And at The Colours of Rum, we bottle these craft spirits, in limited quantities, while being transparent about where it comes from (provenance), and about aging (whether continental or a mix) – you can read everything on the back label. Our rums show up at online auctions, and people drink and collect them too.”
She adds that “while The Colours of Rum’s selection is not intended for cocktails, the rise in cocktail culture and mixology has contributed to a growth in rum popularity and sales.”
In the world of Liquor, Rum is the next big thing.
