The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S arrives with an additional 30 horsepower

New improvements to the car increase its ability to provide an exciting driving experience without the option of a manual transmission

Today, Porsche revealed the 2025 911 Carrera S in its coupe and cabriolet forms.

This renewed variant of 911 falls within the famous car’s range between the Carrera and the new hybrid GTS. Unfortunately, the Carrera S loses the option of a seven-speed manual transmission, instead making do with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

We don’t know why Porsche dropped the manual transmission from the Carrera S, but we hope to learn more details soon. That leaves only the Carrera T and GT3 as manual 911s.

The Carrera S gains more power on the mechanical front, with Porsche tweaking its 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six to 473 horsepower. That’s 30 horsepower more than the previous Carrera S, and perhaps not coincidentally, the new Carrera S is also as powerful as the old GTS.
Porsche says the engine has new turbochargers and revised intercoolers, both of which help increase performance and reduce emissions. With the optional Sport Chrono package, Porsche benefits from a 0-100 kmph time of 3.1 seconds, a 0.2-second improvement over the previous model. Complementing the powertrain changes, a sports exhaust is now standard.

Other mechanical tweaks are also included. The Carrera S gets bigger brakes than the old GTS, with 408mm discs up front and 380mm discs at the rear, and revised shock absorbers.
Options include a lower, firmer sports suspension, rear-wheel steering, and carbon ceramic brakes.

As before, a limited-slip differential and 20/21-inch staggered wheels are also standard.

Inside, As with most modern Porsches, the Carrera S is available with a new Exclusive Manufaktur Leather Interior option that allows for 48 unique colour combinations.

Prices start at $148,395 for the Coupe and $161,695 for the Cabriolet, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the spring.
