At a time when carmakers debut new electric vehicles every quarter, Skoda has released a mid-life facelift of its Enyaq EV. Yes, it has been over four years since the Skoda Enyaq was released and it has been humbly growing in sales since and now, with the latest update, growing in features and design too.

Highlights of the new facelifted Skoda Enyaq comprise a tweaked look now aligned with Skoda’s latest Modern Solid design language, a higher range, more sustainable materials inside the cabin, fitment of advanced driver assistance technologies and an extensive list of standard equipment on offer. Skoda has already opened its order book for the new Enyaq in several European cities with prices starting at around the €44,000 (or AED 167,000) mark.

The front end looks sharper and sleeker than ever, courtesy of the slim DRLs, minimalist bumper design and the Skoda ‘Tech-deck’ – the black panel housing between the headlights hiding a myriad of cameras, radars and sensors. The rear end broadly stays the same with the exclusion of new LED elements in the taillight and dynamic indicators in the pricier variants along with the option to choose between new wheels ranging between 19 to 21 inches. The sleeker and swooping front end also helped Skoda achieve a better aerodynamic efficiency for the new Enyaq making it more slippery through the air, thereby procuring a higher range.

Mechanically, it sits on the same MEB platform as before. A battery pack resides between the front and rear axle with the latter housing a single electric motor setup powering the rear wheels. The new Enyaq will be offered in three trims – an Enyaq 60 with 430 km of range courtesy of a 63kWh battery pack and a 201hp power output, an Enyaq 85 with 577 km of range thanks to an 82kWh battery and a 281hp power output along with an Enyaq 85x with a larger battery and an additional electric motor on the front axle to offer all-wheel-drive but with 534 km of range. Additionally, the new Enyaq can be had in SUV and Coupe body styles.

The layout on the inside is predominantly the same barring the new Skoda steering wheel. The new Skoda Enyaq continues to be equipped with physical buttons, and a digital cockpit alongside a 13-inch infotainment screen with a host of sustainable materials.

What’s entirely new in the facelifted Skoda Enyaq EV are driver assistance features comprising Remote Park Assist and Remote Trained Parking. While the former enables the car to park itself with little to no driver intervention, the latter allows the car to be ‘trained’ on approaching and parking itself at up to five specific parking locations which the user can fixate and automate via the app.
