Technically, we are still in the aviation industry’s winter season. However, American Airlines has already established a busy schedule for the winter of 2025-2026. Although there are travellers during the chilly months who want to visit skiing towns, most seek getaways to sunny and warm destinations. The carrier, also known as American, has confirmed that it will operate over 270 peak daily departures to much sought-after beach destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America from multiple US cities. Moreover, American will strengthen existing routes with additional services during the upcoming winter season.
Cancún (CUN), Mexico, and Punta Cana (PUJ), Dominican Republic, are among the most popular winter destinations for Americans. Starting November 8, 2025, American will become the first airline to establish a direct link with CAN from the state of Oklahoma. The new route will be a nonstop affair from Oklahoma City. Similarly, the airline will begin operating direct flights to PUJ from Indianapolis, Nashville, Tennessee; Pittsburgh; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, on December 6, 2025. All four new routes will run on Saturdays only, aboard a Boeing 737.
Where American will offer more than 40 peak-day flights from 19 US cities to CUN, the airline will have over 20 peak-day services to 11 US destinations from PUJ.
American has announced service extensions for a few European destinations. The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)-Dublin connection will now run through January 6, 2026, aboard a Boeing 787-8. Similarly, the New York (JFK)-Barcelona service and the Philadelphia-Athens flight will run through December 2, 2025, and November 17, 2025, respectively. Both those services will also be provided aboard a Boeing 787-8.
In Latin America, American will start operating ten weekly flights on the DFW-Sao Paulo route from December 3, 2025. Two Boeing aircraft types, a 787-9 and a 787-8, will ferry passengers. Another connection on which American will begin operating four daily flights from December 18, 2025, is the Miami-Buenos Aires route. On this route, three Boeing aircraft types will fly passengers: a 777-300, a 777-200, and a 787-8.
Closer to home, American will strengthen its direct links with the state of Hawaii. In addition to starting daily service on the Chicago-Honolulu route on October 26, 2025, the carrier will also launch a second daily service between DFW and Kahului (operated by Boeing 777-200 and 787-8), and resume the daily DFW-Kona service on November 20, 2025, aboard a Boeing 787-8.
There’s more. American will launch two new routes on October 6, 2025: Los Angeles (LAX) to Des Moines, Iowa, and Phoenix to Little Rock, Arkansas. The airline has also announced a seasonal service between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Aspen, Colorado, beginning December 19, 2025. Never before has the airline offered this route.
