Oman’s pocket-friendly carrier, SalamAir, seeks to capitalise on the rising demand for budget travel in domestic and regional sectors. Its low-fare approach has been well-received in the market, with full aircraft and more demand than the airline can meet. To bridge the gap, SalamAir has contacted multiple aircraft lessors to add 10 additional Airbus A320s to its fleet over the coming three years. The requests have been placed based on the growth targets for the coming five-year period.
Here’s what Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO at SalamAir, said in an official statement:
Our expansion over the next 5 years requires more aircraft to enable us to develop more domestic and regional flights and to introduce destinations that are currently unserved by airlines. These steps will stimulate tourism to Oman and ensure faster growth in the sector.
He further added:
We see other airlines attempting to move to this market due to the obvious demand that exists; this is positive as competition will reduce fares and benefit the consumer.
SalamAir presently has 13 aircraft in operation. Two more, both Airbus A321s, will join the airline’s fleet in 2025. With the 10 additional jets it seeks, the overall count will jump to 25 aircraft by 2028.
