Rolls-Royce unveils ‘Spirit of Expression’ bespoke commissions by Shanghai Private Office

It features three one-of-one models embodying the client’s favourite destinations

The years following the pandemic saw luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce announce the launch of Private Office within major cities, an extension of its Goodwood HQ that allowed customers with the full personalisation palette as its Goodwood office would, thereby saving them a trip to Britain. Shanghai had the doors to its Private Office open last year and now, the brand has unveiled the first creations to come out of it.

The ongoing Beijing International Automotive Exhibition served as the perfect stage for Rolls-Royce to display its three Bespoke commissions titled the ‘Spirit of Expression’. The Shanghai lot comprises one-of-one units of a Ghost Extended, a Phantom Extended and a Spectre, each embodying the tastes of the younger and progressive Chinese clients.

The exterior paint finishes capture world destinations frequented by the clients ranging from the vivid bloom of the Lantana flower in South America to the stunning sands of Sicily’s Cala Luna beach. Inside each ‘Spirit of Expression’ motor car, a recurring celestial motif celebrates the night sky above these extraordinary locations and the inspirational power of the stars.

The Phantom Extended ‘Magnetism’ commission receives a two-tone exterior finish of Cala Luna Sand and Kabira Blue. The former reflects the hue of the moonlit beach sands and the latter captures the horizon when the vast sea meets the midnight sky. The front and rear reclining seats are trimmed in Blue Grey, Navy Blue and Arctic White leather with Arctic White contrast stitching and the door receives an open-pore Obsidian Ayous wood finish.

The all-electric Spectre ‘Escapism’ commission had the tropics of South America as its inspiration. The two-tone exterior is finished in Lantana Red, referencing the vivid red tones of the Lantana Flower and Tempest Grey. Inside, the cabin gets Selby Grey, Purple Silk and Sunset leather upholstery with Obsidian Ayous veneer extending from the door trims to the spokes of the Purple Silk steering wheel.

The Ghost Extended ‘Expressionism’ creation features ‘Boracay Blue’ exterior colour to depict the sunsets over Boracay Island. It gets accentuated with a single hand-painted Lime Green Coachline, subtly referencing Boracay Island’s rich, tropical flora and fauna. Inside, the seats are trimmed with Black and Arctic White leather with Lime Green accents. The inner door pockets receive intricate embroidery featuring a total of 104,268 stitches used across all four doors.

The ‘Spirit of Expression’ Bespoke commissions will be on public display at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition between 25th April to 4th May 2024.
