The German Maison, RIMOWA, has introduced its newest range, the Original Bag. The unisex handbag, which is inspired by the brand’s iconic suitcases and integrates its emblematic grooves, is said to offer a unique blend of functionality and elegance, yet maintain its distinction by its choice of materials and proportions.
Design details
The made-in-Germany, hard-sided aluminium handbag —which can be carried by hand or as a cross-body bag—has a sleek and durable exterior that weighs just 1.1 kg. Its lightweight crafted frame, punctuated by rounded edges, captures the design language of the brand. An leather handle ensures easy portability by hand, while a removable and adjustable leather webbing strap addresses everyday practicality and travel convenience. The handbag also features a RIMOWA-pioneered button mechanism that readily facilitates opening and closing.
The Original Bag is available in silver and black, and is designed to embody understated sophistication, making it a easy choice for casual outings or formal affairs. The handbag’s interior is crafted entirely in Italian-made leather and is made to accommodate all your daily needs with ample space to store belongings, with an organised and roomy compartment (2L capacity) that features a zipped pocket and slots to store credit cards.
Campaign details
To mark the debut of the Original Bag, RIMOWA unveiled a new campaign that is meant to convey its broad appeal. The campaign, directed by filmmaker Jordan Hemingway with images captured by Louise and Maria Thornfeldt, is a visual invitation to reimagine the spirit of exploration through the city streets. It captures the distinct and personal lives of Chinese supermodel Liu Wen; British rapper Central Cee; London-based fashion journalist, stylist and creative director IB Kamara; and photographer Larissa Hofmann across one city over the course of 24 hours, with the RIMOWA Original Bag in hand.
