What is the new Ressence Type 9 Jules Wittock?
It is a collaboration between Belgian artist Jules Wittock, renowned for “tracing mazes freehand.” It is presented in two editions: Type 9 JWB – Jules Wittock Black and Type 9 JWE – Jules Wittock Green. Both are part of the brand’s art watch collection this year and limited to 30 pieces each.

What are both editions dial features?
Type 9 JWB – Jules Wittock Black: It features a white-filled maze pattern milled directly into the black PVD-coated titanium dial.
Type 9 JWE – Jules Wittock Green: It features a white-filled maze pattern milled directly into the Emerald Green ALD-coated titanium dial.

What are the case and strap features?
The case of both editions is made from polished Grade 5 titanium, measuring 39 mm (diameter) * 11 mm (thickness). Dial side features a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside. Splash resistant up to 1 ATM or approximately 10 metres. Both editions come with a soft calf leather strap fitted with a titanium ardillon buckle.
What are the movement features?
Both editions are powered by the patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS) 9 module that is driven by the minute axle of a customised ETA 2892/2 base automatic movement. Its functions are hours and minutes and it comprises of 31 jewels, 20 gears, 4 ball bearings, beats at a modern frequency of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of 36 hours.
What do we think?
The Ressence Type 9 JWB and Type 9 JWE enhance the brand’s art watch credentials, displaying modern artwork on a miniature watch dial. The brand’s watches, besides highlighting unconventional horology, are also excellent platforms for creative expression. Their collaborations with industrial designer Marc Newson and Japanese lacquerware artist Terumasa Ikeda are superb examples. The Type 9 Jules Wittock editions add to this impressive lineage and enhance the brand’s catalogue.
