Porsche 718 Style Edition Models Look Good!

They are based on the entry-level derivatives of the Boxster and Cayman.

To raise the excitement level in its baby sportscar range, Porsche has created Style Edition models of the 718 siblings. The name says it all. The new derivatives, based on the entry-level Cayman and Boxster variants, are all about their aesthetic enhancements inside and out.

The story starts with the body colour, for which Porsche has a new option called Ruby Star Neo. The Germans say that the shade is a “modern interpretation” of the Ruby Star colour that the 964-gen Porsche 911 Carrera RS donned. Besides the colour, there are other differences in terms of looks. For instance, the Style Edition models ride on 20-inch 718 Spyder wheels finished in high-gloss black, while the hub covers boast coloured Porsche logos. At the back, they feature black tailpipes and Porsche lettering in high-gloss silver. The 718 Boxster Style Edition gets embossed “Boxster” branding on the soft top, just above the side windows.

Those buying either of the Style Edition derivatives can choose between two contrast packages free of cost – black and white. Both bring in stripes on the front boot lid, “Porsche” lettering on the side and high-gloss paint finishes for the wheels and the model nameplates at the back. Inside the cabin, the 718 Style Edition versions have a leather package in black with contrast stitching in chalk. Also, the cars pack backlit door sills in stainless steel and Porsche Crest on the headrests.

In addition to aesthetic garnishings, the new models come with an extended standard equipment list. It includes front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, support for Apple CarPlay, cruise control, auto-dimming outer and inner rear-view mirrors and rain-sensing wipers. Features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, heated steering wheel and floor mats with contrast stitching are also part of the same list. And obviously, you can spec the car up.

Mechanically, there is nothing new to report. Both house a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that offers 300hp/380Nm, and a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. If you want the 7-speed PDK in the mix, that’s in the options list. The latter is a tad bit quicker to propel the cars from nothing to 100kmph, but with the manual one could still manage a sprint time of about 5 seconds. The top speed is 275kmph.

So, there you have it. Porsche has refrained to include the prices in the press kit, but you can expect the 718 Style Edition derivatives to cost noticeably more than the models they are based on.
