Peugeot Unveils Concepts for Future Electric Sedan and SUV Models at Beijing Auto Show 2026

During the Beijing Auto Show, Peugeot revealed two concepts that reflected its continuous evolution towards electric and technological innovation.

At the Beijing International Auto Show 2026, Peugeot demonstrated its new direction in automotive development worldwide, especially in connection with China and the importance of it in the production of electric cars. Two concepts were unveiled, along with an insight into how Peugeot will develop its sedans and SUVs in the future.

Why is China important to Peugeot?

China remains among the largest automotive producers. The country not only plays a significant role as a market but also as a development centre for innovative cars. As the automaker suggested, future vehicles produced in China could become the basis for international product portfolios.

Collaboration with local manufacturers, such as Dongfeng Motor Corporation, is part of Peugeot’s development and production plans.

What do these new concept cars mean?

Peugeot presented two concept models: Peugeot Concept 6 and Peugeot Concept 8. They are not intended for mass production, but they provide ideas about the possible future of automobile manufacturing.

Concept 6 is a prototype of a future big sedan, featuring four doors but including design elements from estates or shooting brakes. Concept 8 targets the large SUV class, prioritising spaciousness, aerodynamics, and elevated seating positions.

It is believed that both of the concept models will be equipped with a pure electric powertrain. However, there is currently no information on engine power, torque, or vehicle performance.

How does Peugeot intend to develop its design and technological strategy?

The presentation of concept models suggests a more minimalist approach to exterior styling. Electric propulsion systems will be combined with modern driver assistance and connectivity features.

The interior design will likely rely on digital interface systems and driver-centred layouts. No additional information was provided about specific systems.

Will partnerships form a significant part of future models?

The partnership between Peugeot and Dongfeng is set to extend beyond manufacturing and may include joint development of an electric-car platform and software technology. The cars manufactured in these concept studies may be made in Wuhan, China, and exported to other places.

Using this model, Peugeot can save money on development and bring new models to market faster.

What’s next for these concept cars?

It must be stated that Concept 6 and Concept 8 aren’t coming out anytime soon; at least, not yet. It looks like the next big sedans and SUVs from Peugeot will use elements of these concepts, but nothing more is known about that.

Further details like prices, battery size, range, horsepower, torque, top speed, and so on will be disclosed near production dates, and it looks like they’ll start coming to market in China, then in select international markets.
